Toxic effect of biochemical and morphological changes on carp (Cyprinus carpio) exposed to cadmium chloride

Shivaraj Yallappa, Asiya Nuzhat FB

The present work was designed to determine toxicity on carp Cyprinus carpio exposed to Cadmium Chloride and the effect of biochemical and morphological changes observed during both lethal and sublethal concentration. Acute toxicity LC50 of Cadmium Chloride detected 14mg/L and 1/5th, i.e. 2.8 mg/L of the acute toxicity selected as sub lethal for sub-acute test concentration. The present investigation to study the influence of Cadmium Chloride on certain aspects of Carbohydrate metabolism by estimating the levels of Blood glucose (BG), Glycogen (GLY), Lactate (LAC) and Pyruvate (PYR) in the organs of the fish, and the morphological changes like Caudal bending, Caudal region becomes thin, this was the main affect were studied during experimental tenures. The results were seen to be valuable tool that should be incorporated to a battery of biomarkers.
